About MWL Events:
MidWestLAN was started in 2003 by a few friends, and a passion for LAN gaming. We went on to run in our first season, 4 very well received events with everyone except one selling completely out with a waiting list to get in. Our style of LAN events is constantly changing and being refined. We pride ourselves on focusing on the gamer and not on our own needs which is one of the big items that separated us from many other events that we had been to in the past. We have been progressive in building our events up with increases in size 50% - 100% for our first 3 events.

We have a custom wrote Event Management System which hosts the best tournament management and schedule system of any around with full bracket capabilities, and automated tournament registration functions for our customers. The custom wrote and highly integrated registration system which MWL relies on, is the back bone of the EMS and the website in general. It provides our customers a seamless method of registration, payment, and check in at the event. With a fully automated transaction system, no waiting on people to loose your registration info, or forget reserve you a seat. :) This makes even the largest LAN very simple to get coordinated and running. Our long term goals are nothing less than to become the premiere and largest LAN event that's on a regular schedule year round in the Midwest.

Our 2004 Season was a good start with our last 2 events having nearly 90 people registered and every seat prepaid and filled weeks before the event actually happened.

After a year long hiatus MidWestLAN is returning under new management. The Empire Gamers LAN team met with Joe in late 2005 and has elected to take over all MWL operations in order to return this amazing LAN to the status it once had. The new staff would like to thank Joe and Jerry for everything they've done for this LAN. After a bumpy start with MidWestLAN6 the new staff has succesfully hosted 3 stellar events drawing gamers from all across the midwestern US to Wisconsin's premiere LAN.

Event Organizer/Web Guy
General info:
Email :alex.scheurell@gmail.com
Location : Milwaukee, WI
LAN Experience:
I've been running LANs with the Empire Gamers group since November 2003. We've held many 12-16 hour LANs, and numerous 24 hours LANs. I'm no stranger to the LAN scene, having attended 2 MWL events, the LAN of Paradise, and several Network of Gamers events. I look forward to bringing MWL back to the prominence it once held.

Other Info:
I'm currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee studying theatre. While I started as an actor back in high school, I'm much better in the tech aspect of theatre. I serve as webmaster and currently as the Executive Technical Director for the Walworth County Autonomous Collective of Thespians. In order to make ends meet I ref both USSF and WIAA soccer during the spring/summer/fall in addition to playing poker online (Alex_Striker on PokerStars and FullTilt)

I'm still a very active gamer. I forum moderator and server administrator over at Frontline Formation as well as the leader of the retired Deadly Unrelenting Bastards and AsYLuM BF2 clans. You can find me online playing CoD4, CS: Source, and Team Fortress 2. I'm retired from comp play for the time being due to time restraints, but I might find my way back into it someday.

Location : Waukesha, WI
LAN Experience:
Barrett has been with the Empire Gamers LAN group since it's beginning. Unfortunatley he hasn't been around as much because of work and other commitments, but he looks forward to working with the others on each MidWestLAN he can make it to.

Other Info:
Barrett is currently enrolled at Carroll College studying political science and history. He works as a USSF/WIAA certified referee from the beginning of the spring soccer season until the last game of the fall. In addition to reffing the many games thrown at him Barrett also acts as the Delavan Soccer Club referee assignor and the Stateline District referee administrator. He is also serving as the Executive Business Adminstrator for the Walworth County Autonomous Collective of Thespians

While Barrett hasn't been as active with gaming as he'd like to be, he still finds time every now and then to get a game of BF2 or Age of Empires in.

LAN Experience:
Dan joined the EGL staff in early 2004. He has attended numerous area LANs, including several NoG LANs and the LAN of Paradise. Dan's looking forward to working on MWL, and is willing to do whatever is needed to get this group back on its feet.

Other Info:
Dan is currently out of school, though he is currently climbing the ladder at one of the Milwaukee Best Buys until he goes back to school. He enjoys watching and playing a variety of sports, including baseball, football, and basketball. Dan works on various landscaping/lawn maintenance projects during the warmer seasons.

He's been gaming for less time than most of the admins, but is currently an avid CoD4 player. Dan also enjoys many console games, particularly Halo 3 on Xbox Live.

Email :astronautmarty@yahoo.com
Location : Delavan, WI
LAN Experience:
Marty has been with the EGL staff since the first LAN back in November 2003. He's worked as our tech/network guy for most of the EGL LANs, though will be working in a different capacity for the MidWestLAN. Marty has attended a few other LANs, including MWL3.

Other Info:
Marty is currently taking classes all over the state trying to finish a business degree in less then 3 years. Marty's an avid online poker player and has built up quite a bankroll. He also refs soccer in times of desperation.

Marty helped kick-start the LAN scene with our staff by bringing Alex into the Age of Empires 2 group and then introducing most of us to Battlefield 1942 and the Desert Combat mod. While his gaming time has severely fallen while his interest in poker has increased, Marty still finds time for some BF2 and RTSs.

Other Info:
Paul is currently taking classes at Carroll College in Waukesha. He enjoys playing football and is hoping to play at Carroll this fall. Paul is also an avid paintballer and is hoping to organize a competitive team for that as well.

I have run a couple home LAN's back in the day (mid 90's), then went on to just game at other peoples LAN's learning and observing how they ran their events and what hang-ups people generally had. In the late 90's I came on staff for MidWestFrag (mostly defunct LAN now), and helped setup and run a couple large events for them down in IL.

After that I fell out of the LAN scene for a couple years as I joined the Dot Com fallout of unemp geeks. Once I moved out to Madison, WI to work at a new job, I started home lanning with my co workers, and one thing lead to another... a co worker (Kegger) and I started MWL with a mutual friend (Kinch, who is no longer on MWL staff). Ever since then we've both burned our cash as fast as we can dumping it into MWL hehe. What fun! ;)

Other Info:
I own and used to run ProCooling.com since late 1999. When we started MidWestLAN something had to give, and I handed off ProCooling to my bud pHaestus to run, while I still own it. So I am hardly new to the web medium, and always enjoy a flame war or two.

I race R/C Nitro Onorad cars in the summer and sometimes electric R/C in the winter as an additional overly expensive hobby (cant have too many of them!). Then there is that bastard hobby which I doing as I type this... PHP and web dev work... a cruel hobby it is.

I been to a couple of home LAN's as a guest, had fun, made a mess and then went home. I never ran an event before MWL1 and wished I never had(heehee). But really, running MWL is lots of fun...lots of work of course, but lots of fun nonetheless.

Other Info:
I have several hobbies that all seem to have "work" attached to them. I enjoy woodworking and other handyman activities. Last year I designed and constructed a new deck for my house and I just finished the first phase of remodeling my basement.
